Fresh Start

We all know how good it feels to spring clean. Well, a spring detox is just as exciting! After a cleanse many people report that they experience increased energy, improved digestion, better sleep, and an enhanced sense of well-being.

Beyond rejuvenation, I have experienced the healing of some fairly serious health conditions through improved nutrition, supplementation, exercise, stress management, and cleansing. I have had the privilege of being a partner with many of our customers through their own cleansing, healing journeys. I could share numerous testimonials of restored health and changed lives.

With so many cleansing options, you have the opportunity to choose one that suits you best. Folks who prefer to continue on their normal healthy diet can get excellent results using products such as Flor-Essence from Flora, or Cleanse Smart from Renew Life.

For those drawn to a shorter, more intensive cleanse, with some dietary restrictions, a big staff favourite is the Wild Rose Herbal D-Tox from Trophic. And there are more. We can help you choose and prepare!

My favourite for a spring detox is the Master Cleanse, a modified fast developed by Stanley Burroughs. On this cleanse you consume several drinks daily, made with fresh squeezed organic lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper, for up to 10 days. Sounds a little out there, but it’s amazing. And what have you got to lose except up to 10 pounds and stored waste! Come in and see us for full directions.

Several staff and customers are starting their spring cleanse on Tuesday, March 20th (spring equinox). Would you like to join in? If you do, we want to share in your cleansing experience. Email me @
anne@joannesplace.ca describing your cleanse of choice & your experience and you will be entered for a chance to win a gift basket

I would love to connect with you personally. Starting in March, I’ll be at 1260 Lansdowne Street location on Mondays and Tuesdays, and at our 904 Water Street location on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 11am – 2pm. I hope to see familiar faces and make some new connections! Written by Cathy Anne Douglas, our staff development officer and part of our team here at Jo Anne’s for the past 19 years.

We've all been there. You set a goal for yourself to work out more but you can't seem to get into the routine. The workouts might be too hard or you might not have the energy for it. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that at least 1 in 4 adults do not get enough physical activity. If you're inactive, you carry a 20% to 30% greater risk of premature death compared to more active lifestyles. If you have trouble finding the time or energy to work out, VILPA may be a solution for you.

Who run the world? Girls! March is Women's History Month, and March 8th is International Women’s Day. What better time than this to lift up the women around us! Because of the entrepreneurial courage of our founder Jo Anne & the continued efforts of our now owners & team (which is over 80% women), we have been serving Peterborough & The Kawarthas for over 45 years! We are thankful not only for the amazing women in our team, but for the meaningful connections we have made with so many inspiring women in our community. It is important to us to continue fostering an environment where women feel safe, supported & inspired. We are excited to look to the future and continue to evolve to meet the needs of our community.
